By now, BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr has been caring for 31 bears, and has currently reached its full capacity. During October and November 2025, FOUR PAWS has relocated four bears from BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr in Ukraine to BEAR SANCTUARY Belitsa in Bulgaria and BEAR SANCTUARY Müritz in Germany. 

This relocation has supported the long-term well-being of the bears by ensuring they have had the space and care they need. It has helped balance the bear populations across our sanctuaries and has eased the workload on the BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr team, which has been operating at full capacity. 

BEAR SANCTUARY Müritz has had the space and readiness to welcome the lively young siblings, Freya and Thor. 

Freya is a spirited and confident bear, full of energy and curiosity. From the moment she steps into her enclosure, she takes charge, often leading the way with a boldness that mirrors her strong character. Freya is playful and adventurous, often seen running alongside her brother Thor or splashing about in the pool. When it’s time to rest, she heads straight for the hammock lovingly crafted by the animal caretakers - a perfect spot for a midday nap. 

Freya likes to roam the forest where her favourite pastime is climbing trees. She’s particularly fond of a wild apple tree she discovered, and it’s not uncommon to see her perched high among the branches, munching on fresh apples with delight. 

She’s not fussy with food, though zucchini doesn’t quite make the cut. Watermelons, on the other hand, are a seasonal favourite. 

In November 2025, logistical planning was finally completed, and the siblings could begin their transport from Domazhyr to Müritz.
