Hands-on activities!

Visitors of all ages can set off on the circular trail and take part in the hands-on activities organised by our partners.

For us, the arrival of spring marks the start of the season – the bears have emerged from hibernation, and the sunshine is increasingly drawing visitors to the park. It’s a great opportunity to welcome the season together with our partners and to present upcoming events and activities.

Taking part this year:

Meet & Feed

A special meet-and-greet with our bears: Our visitors have the chance to meet our animal caretakers during a feeding session and ask questions. Why are the bears mainly given vegetables at this time of year? Why do bears hibernate in the first place, and what does that mean?

Participation in the guided tour is only possible by booking in advance at umweltbildung@baerenwald-mueritz.de or by telephone: +49 39924 79118. The number of participants is limited to 20–25. The guided tour is free of charge; only the park entrance fee applies.

The meeting point is located behind the entrance, in front of our feeding kitchen.

Guided tour: ‘What's Growing There?’

Our forests and meadows are home to real treasures that enrich our diet. They are completely natural and packed with vitamins and minerals, and they taste great, too.

Find out which of these superfoods grow right on our doorstep on this guided tour lasting around 1.5 to 2 hours.

Booking required – the tour is free of charge; you only pay for park entry. Tickets available while stocks last; book at umweltbildung@baerenwald-mueritz.de or by telephone: +49 39924 79118.

The meeting point is located behind the entrance, in front of our feeding kitchen.

Global animal welfare: the work of FOUR PAWS

25 April is also the day on which a new exhibition opens in our forest gallery (Waldgalerie). This photography exhibition offers a glimpse into the multifaceted, unique and global work carried out by FOUR PAWS on behalf of animals in need.

FOUR PAWS is the global animal welfare organisation dedicated to animals under direct human influence, which identifies cases of animal suffering, rescues animals in need and protects them. FOUR PAWS’ vision is a world in which people treat animals with respect, compassion and understanding.

FOUR PAWS currently runs 13 sanctuaries and partner projects for rescued bears, big cats and other wild animal species in Europe, Jordan, Vietnam and South Africa. Here, wild animals that have been abused, neglected or discarded in the past and were forced to live in poor conditions in private captivity, circuses and zoos are given a species-appropriate home.

FOUR PAWS strives to provide all animals living in FOUR PAWS sanctuaries and partner projects with the most innovative and best possible quality of life and care, based on strict animal welfare and husbandry standards, known as the FOUR PAWS Quality Standards.
